Bahamadia, born as Antonia Reed in Philadelphia, started DJing in the mid 80’s and didn’t take long for she decided to rock the mic. Her first single Funk Vibe immediately drawn Guru’s attention, who supported and guided her as a member of the Gangstarr Foundation in her first record deal with Chrysalis.
The uknowhowwedu single is from ’95 and got on her debut album Kollage released in ’96, with Guru and DJ Premier productions and The Roots. Ever since she got together with Slum Village, Rah Digga, Talib Kweli, Jedi Mind Tracks, Sade’s backing band, The Roots again and many more.
Currently she just dropped her long awaited 4th album HERE, which includes Erykah, Talib and more. “HERE is an offering of quality, purpose driven hip hop music available for consumption to anyone seeking an alternative to what’s currently being exploited,” she told HipHopDX.com. But for now, let’s enjoy the classic crates.
