Yesterday, 20th of August on a Tuesdaynight, Nadia and I went to go see the one and only WU-TANG CLAN. We were very excited since neither of us had seen them live before. Our expectations were high; I was even worried they might not live up to them.
Let me explain why; It was announced that the all original Wu-Tang Clan members (Method Man, RZA, GZA, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, U-God, Inspectah Deck and Masta Killa) would be present. We were skeptical about this promise, especially since this was claimed plenty of times before, but hardly happens. It’s quite a challenge getting all of them in one place and there were always members that didn’t show up. Can you imagine how psyched we were when all members came out on stage, one by one, to vibe and party with us?! Even Cappadonna joined in.
I found a way, jumping through the moshpits, to get a first row spot where I could peacefully watch the show.. if I wanted to. Instead, I was still jumping and acting a fool because, what else was I supposed to do but bringing the motherfucking ruckus?! Meanwhile, Nadia found herself enjoying the show on a safe distance away from the moshpits, no elbows and bruises for our Queen Tika y’all!
All classic joints were performed, in front of our noses, live on stage. Gravel pit, C.R.E.A.M., Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nuthin’ Ta Fuck Wit, all of ’em. They even did an ODB tribute (I wish they had a hologram) and performed ‘Shimmy shimmy ya’ and ‘Got your money’, which made the crowd go wild. Method Man really stood out throughout the show. That dude has got mad energy yo, and he was still blazin’.
The venue was PACKED. And I don’t mean packed as in it was crowded, I mean packed as in you couldn’t turn, move, dance… you could hardly breathe. Despite that, the energy level shot through the roof. It was like we didn’t need oxygen; we could settle for Wu.
And Wu had to settle for us. They all seemed to be enjoying themselves and so did we. They told us, true or not, we were the best crowd. This being our first Wu-Tang show, we hope to see more of them before they retire. And even if we don’t get that chance; Wu-Tang is forever baby.
Below the photo gallery of what we shot. Feel free to use our pictures or video to illustrate your stories as long as you include credits as The Tika and link back here, thank you.
